my new found love...

It was Saturday morning and I really didn't want to go. I had had a hard week at work and I just wanted to stay home for a few hours. I wanted to relax. Basically I went because of peer pressure. I couldn't think of a good enough reason why not to go. It was free and I'm a sucker for free things. I am usually semi-opposed to trying out new things. Especially things I've never before desired to try.

I have always been skeptical about yoga. I've always thought it was silly and kinda weird. You know, all those people trying to find their inner core, listening to soothing-like music, and doing things like "up-dogs" and "child's pose". I am here to say that I have never been more wrong. Yoga was just what I needed this weekend! It was amazing!! We went to the Saturday morning Beginners class, sat in the back, and tried to become invisible. Little did we know that everyone is basically invisible in a yoga class. Its very individual, very peaceful, very quiet, and VERY relaxing! I didn't realize what an effect it was having on me until we started breathing in the peace, happiness, and strength and started exhaling the stress, worry, anxiety, and fear. It really worked! It was my medicine for stress. After leaving I felt level headed, happy, and relaxed. It was important to me that I had it in a yoga studio. I don't think I would have gotten the same effect from a video at home. They controlled the environment, noise, and temperature; something that isn't always possible at home. (Plus, I'll be honest, it felt less cheesy). I'm beginning to realize that exercise doesn't always have to be running and sweating your guts out. I would go to yoga once a week if I could and I might just do that. I've never been so happy to be so wrong about something in my life! So horray and huzzah for yoga!

Can you go to the exercises that BYU offers for free? When I was going to school they had yoga, kick boxing, aerobics, etc. It was like 40 or 50 a semester.
